So, you've got your Power Readers record - but what will you read?!
Some suggestions:
- visit the library at the back of Mrs B's classroom - it has loads of great books: fiction, non-fiction, Scottish books, prize-winning books, collections of poems and short stories...ask for recommendations and we'll be very happy to help you out!
- looking for non-fiction books? why not ask other subject teachers if there's any they'd recommend in their subject area?
- why not try reading the book of a film you've enjoyed? (so many films are based on books - and so often the book was SO MUCH better than the film too!)
- sign up for a goodreads.com account. Once you've put in your details and logged some of the books you've read and enjoyed, it will offer you personalised suggestions, with reviews, of what you could read next... http://www.goodreads.com/
- ask others in your class what they've been reading...similarly, if you've read something good, let your friends know - and if you were really keen on it, why not ask if you can do a book review on it in class?
- scour the bookshelves at home - see if your parents/grandparents/brothers/sisters/cousins/pets/uncles and aunts have read anything you might be interested in too
- The mobile library makes a visit every 3 Wednesdays to KLB - it would be worth a visit to see what they have! It doesn't need to be a school holiday either - it visits the primary school during break time (the library also has lots of audio-books if that's what you would prefer) Here are the 2014 dates...
